NSS1The school introduced NSS for the students of class IX as per the CBSE directive as it focused on the development of personality of students through community service.

The National service scheme (NSS) was launched on 24th September 1969 during Mahatama Gandhiji’s birth centenary year.

The students are expected to work as volunteers for two years, rendering community service for a minimum of 120 hours per year.

Under a special camping programme the NSS club of DPS, Bangalore – East organized a village camp from 17-12-09

to  23-12-09 at  Premsevanagar, Kolar.

A multitude of activities had been organized for the week; some of them were -conducting a survey on the financial NSS2conditions of the villagers, visiting an Old Age Home and interacting with the Senior Citizens, whose lives they were able to brighten up for a couple of hours!

Also on their agenda was meeting and entertaining the physically challenged children by putting up a small cultural show for them.

Sports activities and a drawing competition was arranged  for the children belonging to the underprivileged section of the society in the surrounding villages.

They rendered community service by cleaning Antarganga, near Premsevanagar and planting saplings to Clean and Green the Environment.

Yoga, Rock Climbing and Sports were undertaken  during recreation time.

It was truly a memorable, enriching and learning hands on experience for the students.

Every child made a promise to himself/herself to become compassionate and do their mite towards helping their less fortunate brethren.
